If you’ve looked on Google to find out more about Ares, you’ve very possibly seen “Ares musica” displayed on a result or two. Moreover, while you’ve doubtless seen enough English results to know the program is available in an English-speaking format, you might be scratching your head a little at this point. So what’s up?

What’s up is that Ares is popular all around the world, with 30 million users worldwide. It is open source software, meaning no one has to pay a single red cent for it. This makes it a favorite worldwide, among countries both rich and poor. And when it comes to love of music, Latin America is right there with the best of them.

Latin America has a rich musical heritage. When the region was first settled, the Moors, who were anything but intolerant, controlled some regions of Spain. It was a multi-ethnic, even multi-cultural region.

Moors, Jewish settlers, Spanish Christians, and the Roma (aka Gypsies) all lived in the region. Each had their own musical styles, which made for a wide variety of musical expression. The French troubadour tradition had its influence as well. And all of this carried over when Spanish colonists settled in the New World.

The region is now home to many distinct, colorful, and upbeat styles of music. Tango, Bossa Nova, Brazilian Jazz, Rumba, and Salsa are just a few of the many great kinds of music from Central and South America. And you can find all of these and more on “Ares Musica.”

The Ares P2P network has 100 million different files from 30 million different users worldwide. Ares Vista even has chat rooms and an instant messenger, so that you can ask around for any files you don’t find at first glance.

So if you don’t find what you’re looking for at first, just jump into chat and say, “Ares musica Latina, por favor?” and you’ll be sure to find what you want.

Unlike Limewire, Bittorrent, or Napster, Ares was developed as an open-source application, so there are no corporate owners for the RIAA to target, and development of the system has not been halted with legal problems. Ares is easy to use, quick to connect, with very fast download speeds. Because Ares is the most popular file sharing program, you find a lot better music selection, and more people to connect and share with. There are over 100 million titles available to download on the network.
Ares is the best choice for most filesharing needs, particularily for music files. For sharing of very large files such as movies, the Bittorrent protocol is better. While Ares does support the Bittorent protocol, it is not designed specifically for that purpose. Links to the most popular programs that use the bittorrent client are below.
* Azureus   * BitTorent
* Limewire   * Suprnova
Some other popular filesharing programs are listed below. Check back later as we are finishing reviews of these,and the bittorrent clients listed to the left.
